How do I get a great return on my laptop?

My laptop is really on my nerves. My internet research is extremely slow lately and I downloaded a program called registration reimage.com patrol and also downloaded. They identify problems, but will not solve everything for free. Is there something I can download that will solve all the problems completely free? If I dream free, then what is the cheapest?
