Why not recognize Portable DVD ± RW / CD-RW drive?

I recently bought a Gateway M-series M-1625 laptop. The unit worked for a while, but I do not work. In My Computer, only the hard disk performance and recovery units. Is there any way that can be corrected?

It is a common theme and a really easy solution 1.In Registry Editor, expand My Computer , and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. 2.Expand System then expand CurrentControlSet. Control then 3.Expand Class. 4.If click Class (4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318). 5.In the right pane (topic area), click UpperFilters. Note UpperFilters.bak a registry entry may also appear. To delete the registry entry UpperFilters, UpperFilters should not UpperFilters.bak. 6.On Edit menu, click Delete. 7.When the following message appears, click Yes to confirm deletion the UpperFilters registry entry: Are you sure you want to delete this value?
